Jolene’s Top 3 Tips: Exploring Europe as a family.
Europe is more than just a warm, summertime weather destination. I love traveling in the off or shoulder seasons for a variety of reasons: less crowds, better pricing and more opportunities to mingle with the locals.
The key to family travel is making sure you have the right balance of "planned" activities and free time. I always like to book half day guided walking tours for our family with amazing local guides. It gives us a great overview of a destination. Plus, we get to pick their brains and soak up info like a sponge, find out their favorite restaurants, shops, insider info. Then we have the afternoons to explore on our own, either together or independently. Maybe someone wants to kick back and relax and enjoy the wonderful hotel and someone wants to hit a museum - no judging!
Interactive experiences are key to making memories. Cooking classes, biking excursions, hiking treks, going to a local school for a project or anything hands on where everyone can participate will bring so much joy and discussed around dinner tables for years to come.
